John Selep is a former tech executive, active angel investor, and long-standing contributor to the startup community in our Sacramento region. For the past seven years, John has been a volunteer, mentor, and sponsor of our region’s AgStart program, one of Northern California’s longest-established incubators for Ag-and-Food technology startups, where John currently serves as President and Board chair. Through the state-wide VINE initiative that AgStart drives in conjunction with the University of California, John has built relationships with Ag-&-Food innovators and supporters across the state, as well as corresponding entities in countries around the world, innovating to keep California’s Ag-&-Food economy globally competitive. John is also a Board Director for the Sacramento Angels, a regional investor organization, and is a Principal Advisor through LARTA to numerous startup entrepreneurs commercializing Ag technology innovations under USDA SBIR awards. John is a frequent speaker on topics around entrepreneurship, rural broadband, and California’s agricultural economy.
